Fowler and Holden Ltd are proud to be associated with Frosts Landscape Construction and congratulate them on winning two awards including the grand award at the BALI National Landscape Awards 2015 for the inventive and unique Merchant Square project. F&H worked closely with Frosts to provide the cast iron components for Merchant Square. The unique features were designed by Robin Partington and Partners Architects, manufactured by Fowler and Holden Ltd and installed by Frosts. The castings were all pre-weathered using an innovative technique that gave the castings a classic aged character.
The series of images shows the manufacture at our Grimsby Foundry, followed by installation and then the finished effect night and day of the sunburst balustrade at the entrance to 3 Merchant Square.
The centre piece of the project was a 30m diameter amphitheater with an ornamental fountain. Again we see manufacture, installation and the finished article.
The project is part of the Paddington Basin redevelopment, The features are in public areas so can be enjoyed by everyone and they are a perfect compliment to the modern buildings and the traditional narrow boats on the canal.
