£300 million Kirkstall Forge Development.

Job Type: Bridge

The new £300 million Kirkstall Forge re-development project is a landmark development at one of Leeds most important and iconic sites. The scheme will deliver 1050 new homes, 300,000 sq ft of office space and 100,000 sq ft of retail and leisure space in the shadow of one of the oldest industrial sites in the UK and the magnificent 12th century Abbey. A key element of the development is the new bridge over the River Aire that will link the two sides of the river bank.

One of the first major structures to be erected on the project was the river crossing, we have therefore seen the site develop from the derelict industrial site to the beginnings of a modern shared space with community, business and leisure that has utilized innovative and high specification materials to create a unique space.

The attached photo shows the FastFlow bridge drainage being installed on the bridge deck. The units were specially heat treated to create a weathered patina that blends with the sandstone paving. A truly unique bridge in an iconic setting.
